Paragami Trailer

Trailer for Paragami / To the Other Shore:

a contemplative 90-minute documentary that follows the spiritual journeys of four female Buddhist monastics across Thailand, Cambodia, and Sri Lanka. Through immersive, meditative imagery, the film foregrounds resilience, compassion, and quiet resistance, revealing how these women navigate their spiritual paths in harmony with nature, community, and each other. The title “Paragami” (Pali for “one who has gone to the other shore”) symbolizes enlightenment and transcendence, here reimagined through the journeys of women who challenge patriarchal boundaries within Theravada Buddhism. With:

  • Ajahn Tritrinn, a Thai transgender Mae Chi building a sanctuary and meditation center

  • Ven. Bhikkhuni Jutindhara, a cambodian Bikkhuni establishing Cambodia’s first Bhikkhuni monastery

  • Ajahn Ben, a thai Mae Chi developing a female meditation retreat in the Thai Forest tradition.

  • Ven. Saccadharani, a British Samaneri traveling to Sri Lanka for Bhikkhuni ordination;
